gRAY sensors for power radiation measurement of a light/Laser beam

Thermopiles based sensors are able to measure the power radiation emitted by a laser light source, or from any light source. When a laser beam meet the sensor surface, the radiation is absorbed by the upper layer of the sensor and is converted into heat.
This heat is then transmitted to the lower surface layers. With the thermo-electric effect, a voltage is generated by the sensor. This voltage output is directly proportional to the power of the received radiation.

A special coating is applied to the upper layer. It is designed to select precisely the spectral range of the light that will be absorbed.

Usually, the common sensors use photodiodes. But the gRAY sensors from greenTEG, based on the thermopiles technology, offer many advantages:

  • Better selectivity of the spectral range with the high-quality coating surface
  • Custom spectral range available (from 0 to 14um)
  • Same behaviors to all light sources (true energy measurement)
  • Upper maximal power acceptance (>1kW)
